STRICTLY 2010: ALL MASHED UP - Various Artists - new mashup album



"Strictly 2010: All Mashed Up" is a collection of my personal hits of 2010 in remixed mashup forms.
From the initial pop smash "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha to the duet by newcomer Iyaz and RnB sensation Beyoncé that became my biggest success of the year (altogether with my old account it would have reached over 150,000 views on YouTube by now), this album comes up with the greatest artists of the year.
Belgian singer Stromae accompanies Lady GaGa who herself joins Eurovision Song Contest 2010 winner Lena from Germany with a dance version of her song "Satellite" while Taio Cruz' hit "Dynamite" has been turned into a clubby house remix. Also included are the anthem of the soccer world cup 2010 in South Africa by K'naan and Mariah Carey, superstar Usher's party tune "DJ got us fallin' in Love" featuring rapper Pitbull and my version of Kid Cudi's "Day'n'Nite" that gave it a totally new twist. It was also aired in one of the known Mash-Up Your Bootz radio shows.
This best of album features the hottest song ("I'll make Love to you") as well as the saddest song I've ever made up to date ("Do Angels Cry" by British neo soul personal tip Lynden David Hall) that transfer the most passionate of emotions. The playlist ends with two brand new tracks by Rihanna and Madcon that already give you a brief glimpse of what the upcoming year will bring musicwise.
"Strictly 2010: All Mashed Up" compiles many of this year's greatest hits and marks the final of the "Strictly ..." trilogy; if you're into mashups and looking for a collection of 2010's greatest moments in music, have a listen!

STRICTLY SENSUAL - mashup album

"Strictly Sensual" continues the "Strictly ..." series of S.I.R. albums and comes up with a pretty obvious concept: It's an album for those certain hours when you are alone with your girlfriend or boyfriend and enjoy your time together.
Among the tracks are new renditions of old classics such as the much loved Motown tune "Sexual Healing" by soul legend Marvin Gaye and more recent songs like "Touch my Body" by pop diva Mariah Carey and the hip hop track "Lollipop" by Lil Wayne & Static Major that got a totally new vibe on here. Jazz friends get their money's worth with a special version of the late Aaliyah's "Rock the Boat". Instrumentals that are used include artists like Usher, Nelly Furtado and the unforgettable Lynden David Hall. The album closes with a brandnew duet by US rapper Nelly and German band Monrose who show their mutual attraction to each other in their music video to "Hot in Herre (It's Strictly Physical)".
If you like smooth rnb and soul love jams with a hip hop and jazz influence here and there, you should definately have a listen to "Strictly Sensual"!

Originally intended to be released as a special edition of my first mashup album "Strictly S.I.R.", the publishing of this album has been preponed due to the 5th Monrose fanclub meeting where copies of "Strictly S.I.R. - Monrose Edition" were given to the three Monrose ladies. It contains every single Monrose mashup I've ever made up to today, including it's promotional single "Strictly Physical (At the Circus)", which has been released two weeks earlier, the #1 radio songs "What you don't know (I Apologize)" and "Apologize (What you don't know)" as well as several unreleased tracks.

Pros: Already heard a lot of mashups containing the acapella of kesha, so when i saw the title of this mash i was kind of afraid it would be just another "pella + instrumental mash" But i must say i'm surprised in a positive way, this combination just works great. You did throw in some high quality production skills which makes this mashup a definite keeper (and a floor filler two) Cons: None, njoy your Smashed Award. Tips: A extended version of this mashup combined with vocals of Kylie would realy make the crowd go wild!

Pros: I'll be honest, I was dreading listening to this. I'm pretty sure Sean Paul's voice contravenes the Geneva Convention - I find him just torturous to listen to. It was with great relief then to find you'd used Beyoncé's silky vocals over the Sean Paul backing and to good effect. This is one of the smoothest "Halo" mashes I've heard in terms of audio quality. Cons: There's not a great deal of difference between the backing in the verse and chorus, which means the Beyoncé chorus doesn't pop out as much as I'd like it too. The quieter section works very nicely though. Tips: You've done a good job producing a Sean Paul mash that not only didn't leave my ears bleeding, but is actually one I'd choose to listen to again. It would be nice to see you experimenting with a broader clash of styles though.

Pros: I get to review my second "Smashed" track in a row, must be my lucky day! This is a great example of a perfectly executed A+B mashup. Simple, on beat, on key, and it sounds like they are meant for each other, 5*. Mashups like these, although maybe not the most flashy and creative, are the ones that people listen to and remember. Cons: My only regret is that it may be a little too simple for some people. It's fine for me, because I know that mashers who do an A+B like you did still have talent to create a multi mix if they want to, but some people might critique your use of one instrumental/acapella. Tips: When I'm assigned to review your stuff, they mind as well only give me the first two boxes, cuz this one is pretty pointless!

Pros: This mash-up lays the well-known vocals of an international superstar (Lady GaGa) over the instrumental of a current European hit by rapper/producer Stromae of Belgium. The result is a dancefloor-ready stomper likely to appeal to global jet-setters, even if they claim that distinction only virtually. It's quite decent, but I imagine it's better enjoyed when you're off your rocker in a random dodgy Eurodisco. Cons: Though technically in key, this is not entirely convincing to my ears. Pitching the intrumental so low muddies the low range and attenuates the mild clash between Stromae's de-tuned synth horns and the vox. And the 'mental fails to accomodate GaGa's chord changes: She shifts up and down, but the 'mental keeps pounding out the same riff - fine in the orignal, but monotonous here. Tips: If there's one thing I learned from mashing GaGa, it's "Respect her chord changes," which can make a single GaGa mash-up stand out from literally hundreds of others. Plus, it's always better to find combos that need no re-pitching at all. I dig your style, but this is not your best work.

Pros: It's hard to find fault with the quality of your production. Mariah's vocal sounds perfectly at home amidst the summery K'naan backing. The pitching, timing and vibe of the two songs weave together in a totally natural way, and the sound quality is excellent. The video has been put together very nicely too. Cons: The only downside for me is the commerciality of it all - it's a glorified Coke advert vs Mariah Carey, for Pete's sake! I'm just a contrary bugger though, so don't listen to me, Tips: I hate to see commercial pop vs commercial pop mashups as a rule but that's partly because they're so frequently done poorly. This is pretty much flawless, so the huge market for mainstream mashes should lap it up like an ice cold Coke in a heatwave.

Pros: S.I.R. Sorry this has taken an age to be reviewed but I been away n vacation for a few weeks - but its been worth the wait. It's been ages since I heard this instrumental and its been very nicely reproduced and made to sound really fresh again with the use of K'naan's vocal. I've not heard of K'naan but this tune makes me wanna give him a listen. As usual, with your tunes this is very well produced and actually sounds like an original tune. Nice one! Cons: Having given this tune a few listens now I don't personally think you would do any more to improve it - a lovely little mix. Tips: I ain't gonna be giving you tips bud. I understand you've had a couple ofknocks about being more adventurous but sometimes a tune is what it is and sounds great without all the whistles and bells. Keep it up mate.
